Turned Parts makes a system called a lather. Lather is a very versitale machine for all kind of different metal or woodworks.
Main Parts Of A Universal Turning Machine
A lathe consists of these turned parts:
1. Body
2. Spindle and box
3. Movable tailstock
4. Chuck (or fixed tailstock)
5. Chip spindle
6. Main shaft
7. Norton box
9. Pen Holder
10. Electric Motor
11. Tools. These are different turned parts, but there are different types of mirrors and pens for different areas of manufacturing.
- Mirrors
– Fixed bearings
– Traveling beds
– Forceps
– Chuck
– Catheters
– Swivel
Meanings of These Parts
Body: It consists of two turned parts. The first is the feet and the second is the records that carry the movement organs. It is made of solid casting. The body carries all the parts of the machine and the forces that occur during operation.
Spindle and Box: It carries the rotating spindle with gear wheel assemblies. The spindle is a pen that rotates on two bearings at the ends of the spindle. The front part of the spindle is shaped to allow the connection of various chucks or a triangular profile screw is drawn to a part of it. Spindle must rotate without runout, its axis must be parallel to the body registers and its bearings must be adjusted. Otherwise, a smooth job cannot be obtained from the lathe.
Movable tailstock: It can be slid on the slideways so that workpieces of different lengths can be connected between the tailstocks. The tailstock is fixed to its slot in the tailstock envelope with the help of a Morse cone. Together with the tailstock envelope, it can be taken back and forth with the help of the hand wheel. Especially in aluminium turned parts, movable stock is very important.
Spindles
Chip spindle: It consists of a long spindle on which a keyway is opened from one end to the other and continues along the slides. The rotation of the shaft enables the movement to pass to the drive device on the car, thanks to the keyway. This is one of the most important turned parts for a smooth operation.
Main Spindle: It is a shaft on which a screw has been drilled from one end to the other and extends parallel to the chip shaft. The duty of the main shaft is to provide screwing on the lathe, that is, it gives the necessary progress during screwing. Cnc turned parts manufacurer and firms, pay really close attention to this spindle. This plays a big role in cnc work.
Norton Box: It is used to accelerate the main spindle and the chip spindle in order to adjust the screw steps or to obtain chip advances. It consists of a gear group with various tooth numbers, which provides the amount of feed in its body and is used to change the ratio between the spindle speed and the screw steps.whether if it is normal or plastic turned parts, this part of the machine doesnt change. It is usually the same system indepented from usage.
Main Parts of a Lathe
Trolley: It can be slid to the right and left by means of the gear driven by the hand wheel and the rack on the body, which is skidded on the upper part of the body.
Chisel Holder: They are used to connect lathe chisels or cutters in a solid and suitable position. This turned parts consists of a curvilinear body and a tightening screw.
Electric Motor: The machine gets its first movement from the electric motor. Then, other processes are done through various mechanisms. Rotation movement and speed adjustments from lathes working with hydraulic system are provided by hydraulic power. If it belongs to a cnc turned parts, this motor naturally will be very advanced.
Turning Tools
Mirror: It is the element that is used to connect and rotate short-sized workpieces. Workpieces must be fastened on the chucks free of runout and securely. If it is not securely fastened, the workpiece may break or fly off.
Fixed Bearings: Fixed on lathe registers to support long cylindrical workpieces. This turned parts generally have three legs.
Traveling Bearings: It is attached to the car and moves with it. It has two legs that support the workpiece. The machined surface of the workpiece rests on these two foot surfaces. Many turned parts manufactorer make this tool extra because it can be broken during the working process.
Different Turning Tools
Collets: They are used for easy and precise clamping of round, square and hexagonal workpieces to the lathe. They provide easy centering due to their precision and the way they hold the part.
Chuck: It is the same chuck used in drill machines. It is only threaded inside for screwing the lathe to the spindle end. It is suitable for turning small diameter workpieces.
Cutter: this turned parts piece is used to properly connect the lathe pens to the chisel holder. It has square section holes or channels in accordance with the pen shape and size.
Swivel: It is used to transmit the rotational movement of the swivel chuck to the workpiece to be turned between the two centers.
Chisel Types
1) Rough chip chisel: These chisels are used when roughing chips will be taken from the workpiece. It can be divided into two as right chisel and left chisel. The right pen cuts from right to left, and the left pen cuts from left to right.
2) Chisel: this turned parts are used for open channels and cut cylindrical parts.
3) Fine chip chisel: These chisels are very similar to coarse chip chisels. Only the tip is more rounded.
4) Screw pens: There are two types according to the type of screw to be opened. In the realm of small turned parts, this pen is very commonly used.
